BVF, Capital Motors to discuss new deal

BVF president, Daniel Molaodi said the BVF would go back to the sponsor with a view to renew the partnership for next year’s edition. The Capital Motors tournament is the biggest event in the BVF calendar and brings out the best from teams and individual players. Molaodi told Mmegi Sport they are considering looking for sponsors for other teams such as the national Under-19 and 23. The top eight tournament kicks off this month and is different from the Capital Motors competition. He said the league has shown growth compared to last year. Molaodi said the growth is not about the quantity, saying the quality has improved tremendously. Molaodi said there have been some upsets, giving an example of Dynamites beating Mafolofolo. He said it is no longer a given that big teams would win, and such changes are important in the sport. “We have a lot going on. Our teams are scheduled to participate in the Zone VI club championship that will be held in Swaziland from December 12-20. Teams that won Capital Motors tournament got automatic qualification for the tournament but we would like to see the top four teams in the league taking part,” he said. He said it would be up to the teams to decide on whether they participate in the competition as they are sponsoring themselves. He encouraged BVF affiliates to consider participating in the championship. Molaodi said the federation will be involved in Botswana Games in Francistown in December. This has forced the postponement of the Mascom league awards from December 10 to a new date yet to be confirmed. Teams that participate in the Botswana Games and Zone VI are expected to attend the awards, hence the decision to postpone them. He said they are yet to agree on a suitable date with Mascom. Furthermore, Molaodi said the federation would be sending representatives to the Confederation of African Volleyball elective congress in Algeria next month. However, he said Botswana is not contesting for any position.
