BMDYL has lost trust in party leadership

Pilane’s membership re-application has been dragging for some months and it has divided the party leadership.

“We have lost trust in our leadership, the national executive committee and we believe that if each camp continues adopting a hardline stance that has been at play in the media over the last few weeks, the biggest winner will be everybody’s common enemy, the BDP.

The biggest loser will unfortunately be the average Motswana who works hard everyday to ensure his/her children are able to see a better Botswana in the not so distant future,” said BMDYL national spokesperson Kagelelo Kentse.

Kentse said they had noted with dismay the events surrounding the membership or lack thereof, of Pilane, over the past six or so weeks.

BMYL says the merits or lack of, of either school of thought around this issue has been played out at length publicly, rather unfortunately.

He said the youth league would not through this public statement, fall into the same path, especially since the youth league NEC has not met since the breakout of the latest public onslaught by some of their leaders at each other.

“We however would like to categorically state our disappointment at the terrible handling of what should be an easy process of one person’s membership by all involved, which has left the entire movement with egg on the face and the entire expectant nation with more questions than answers,” said Kentse.

The youth leadership urged their leaders who have been at loggerheads over the issue to put the needs of the movement and more importantly the nation first.

They appealed to the protagonists to come together to discuss this matter with cool heads and reach a reasonable and useful consensus.

Kentse said they remain hopeful, and would engage their leaders within party structures to ensure that the matter comes to rest very soon and everybody’s focus returns to its rightful place, that is the campaign.
