Upon entry, one could feel the ambiance of the late 1990s when machesa and sdori were popular amongst Kwaito lovers.

Fans did not disappoint as many came dressed to the style, giving the show that Kwaito feel. Looking the part, the appropriately attired fans walked with energy on entering the venue, evidently ready for lots of fun.

Whistles and screams were order of the day as revellers danced and sang along to old hits. Deejays warmed up the stage before the main performers ran with the show.

The show was all about the hits and stars of the 1990s.

Chomie of the 999 Crew - a surprise act not included in the line-up - kicked off with an exhilarating performance.

Chomie, known for her top class choreography, dished out her greatest hits, much to the appreciation of revellers. The crowd started moving closer to the stage when the South African star hit the stage. Her single Jiva Sexy seemed to be the crowd’s favourite, judging from the cheers and screams, but when her ex beau, Arthur Mafokate, entered the stage to perform their hit single, Hlokoloza, there was even more excitement.

Arthur dished out some of his 1990s hits non-stop, including the popular Mnike and Seven Phezulu. He ended his set by performing his latest single with controversial singer, Kelly Khumalo, titled Nguwe Lo.

Up next on stage was Ishmael, one of the members of the award winning South African duo Jozi. He started his set with the theme song of the festival; his hit track titled Waarwasjy followed by Avulekile Amasango. Other performers on the night included event organiser Lecco, South Africa’s Doc Shebeleza and Mapetla among others.

A chat with Chomie revealed an excited star. She told Showtime that she always feels at home in Botswana. When quizzed about her views on her ex beau and Khumalo, who were reportedly dating if South African media reports are anything to go by, releasing a song together which is enjoying airplay at the moment, she said, “business is business, I do not have any comment on it, I like the song I think it is a powerful song”.
