Water supply expected on Friday

Work is on schedule and water supply in Gaborone is expected as from the November 6, 2015. Different areas will recover at different times. The shutdown affects all areas in the Greater Gaborone area.

Due to the shutdown of the NSCI, all areas in the Greater Gaborone area currently experiencing no water supply.

During the shutdown only the Masama wellfield, Molatedi Dam, Nnywane Dam and Ramotswa wellfield will be supplying the Greater Gaborone area.

These sources provide only 31.8 million litres a day of the required average 125million litres a day for this area.

The little available water from these sources is being channelled to critical areas including hospitals, other institutions, especially those with boarding facilities, the Government Enclave, the CBD, amongst others.

In some instances, bowsing is ongoing to some of these areas.

Always ensure that all water taken out of the WUC network and stored in containers for use during supply interruptions is handled in a hygienic manner to avoid contamination.
