The show director, Gaosi Raditholo, told the media on Wednesday that the show would be entitled The heart of music rebirth. “The reason for all this is to re-launch the band and mark our five years of existence,” she said.

Raditholo said the show would come up with a theatrical music performance.

She added: “Theatre will be meeting music, the performance is going to be different. We want the show to be engaging and vibrant. There would be no tranquil performance associated with the band. We want to push the boundaries of what was The Metrophones before.”

The show will introduce showmanship, an artistic skill of performing in such a manner that will appeal to an audience or aid in conveying the performance’s essential theme or message. Raditholo also said the band would stage its best performance because it would be welcoming new audience. The show will give the band a chance to explore and let loose.

“It will be an experimentation of music and theater,” she said. The Metrophones, which were born out of a social responsibility concept, have been performing exclusively in corporate events.

The Metrophones saxophonist, Akhutleleng Mogami, said the public never sees the band in action. “We have been playing our music in corporate events and with this show we want to come out of our shell,” she said. “With this show, those who see us in the corporate events will get to see us in a much more relaxed manner.” The band will also perform new and original songs.
