Bail ruling today for serial stabber, murder accused

During his last mention, Kefitlhile applied for bail, explaining that he had left undisclosed amounts of money and important property in Francistown where he was working prior to his September 29 arrest. Kefitlhile told the court that his belongings were in a “dangerous place” and likely to be stolen.

He promised that if granted bail, he would mention from Francistown and adhere to court dates.

However, Inspector Bakani Tsayang of Woodhall Police Station objected to the bail application, noting that investigations into the case were still at an initial stage. Tsayang advised the court to remand Kefitlhile in custody for his own personal safety, as tempers of members of the public were still high.

The state alleges that on Independence Day eve, Kefitlhile stabbed to death Khumo Kgotlaetsile, a Form five student at Lobatse Senior Secondary School. On count two, Kefitlhile at an unspecified house in Woodhall 2 ward, is alleged to have stabbed Lesedi Molefhe with a knife several times.

Another victim Kesentseng Lenyatso was stabbed on the back with a knife before Kefitlhile allegedly turned on Ipeleng Moncho, stabbing him five times on the right knee and once on the left knee, still in the same neighbourhood. His alleged sixth victim, Fernado Babui was severely stabbed and later hospitalised in Princess Marina Hospital. Babui has since been discharged.
