On duty security guard killed

The station commander of Central Police Station (CPS), Lebalang Maniki, confirmed that a 60-year-old man was found tied on both legs and hands and showing no signs of  life.

Maniki said that they received a report from Cell Investment Company employees at 7am on Sunday that the security guard was found dead.

“When we arrived at the scene, we took the man to Nyangabwe Referral Hospital where he was certified dead,” he said.

Maniki who would not disclose the name of the deceased before the relatives are notified however said that the man resides at Blue Town location and hails from Nata village.

The station commander said the culprit(s) who killed the man broke into the Cell Investment company office caravan and stole money amounting to P100,000.

He added that they also stole Orange, Mascom, beMobile and BTC airtime cards worth over P200,000.

“We do not have any information on what really transpired hence investigations are still ongoing,” he said. He however, advised people and business companies to avoid keeping large sums of money at home or in their offices as thieves are attracted by it.

“Arrangements must be made with banks to deposit money after hours to reduce store breaking and theft which in this case led to murder,” he said.

Maniki pleaded with members of the community to assist them in arresting the culprits.

Meanwhile, Maniki disclosed that they are investigating another incident in which a newly born baby was found dead on Friday in the thickets near Monarch Phase 6.

“The baby was wrapped in plastic bags without any note,” he said and requested the community to help locate the perpetrator.
