BIUST catalyst for enterprise

Officiating at BIUST’s postgraduate open day in the capital on Friday, Bolele said the science and technology institution is mandated with helping industries create more employment opportunities. He added that it is a “catalyst for assisting Batswana to set-up sustainable enterprises informed by these research outcomes”.

Bolele added that the importance of open day cannot be over-emphasised.

“It is truly a starting point towards increasing economic activity for the benefit of our country,” he said. He said due to the prevailing economic challenges that demand a heightened focus on well-researched ideas by universities; BIUST comes in handy as Botswana’s first research-intensive institution of higher learning.

“These researchers can translate into practical solutions for Botswana’s industries, communities, the region, Africa and indeed the world at large,” said Bolele. Acting director of communications and public affairs, Keoagile Rafifing said the institutions have more than 200 graduate students at present.

The open day attracted 250 prospective graduate students who interacted with lecturers and students depending on their areas of study.
