Slim construction manager, Ayanda Letang said the club will receive P2 million per season. In addition, the team received playing kits that included travel wear.

Gilport Lions director, Kelesitse Gilika said the sponsorship will go towards the development of the players. He said the funds will also assist in the development of youngsters in the Gaborone West area where the team is based. He said they have an agreement with the Lady Olebile Masire Trust that will enable the team to develop the training ground. He said his focus has always been on the development of the boy child and with such sponsorship, his target can be achieved.

“We have a five-year strategic plan and we will be working according to it. It is not an overnight thing to achieve all we want. You should be aware that our coach is here to stay and we want him to focus on development,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gilika explained that his club does not have a committee as a company is responsible for running the team. He said the company reports to the board.

Zebras coach, Peter Butler said teams such as Gilport Lions, Motlakase and Miscellaneous are the lifeblood of the Premiership. He said they play a big role in the development of local football. He said the sponsorship will assist in growing the club. Butler added that companies such as Slim Construction are important partners.
