Police XI

After the fans, including Police officers, ran rampage in demand of reimbursement, a decision was taken by senior police management to withdraw all police officers from civilian clubs. This was done so that the organization could manage their people.
The team was formed with all the better players having been recalled from civilian life and the team immediately became a hit and challenged for honours.
The first coach was Zero Johnson and the club affiliated in April of 1974 and was called Police National XI. They were weakened by the departure of some members who joined the Botswana Defence Force and they were then relegated, but they bounced back in 1978 just a year after being absence in the elite league. The ‘Jungle Kings’ became a BPL team in 1995 and they have never been relegated since then.
They have had players in the national team before and managed to win the league in 2005/06 season. Their then skipper, Ndiapo Letsholathebe, was part of the Botswana national team that made their maiden appearance at the AFCON 2012.
