BR Highlanders

The founding members were employees of Botswana Railways and the team was first a social club and when the project became bigger it had to affiliate to mainstream football. 
The club then started campaigning in the then second division and in 2002/03 it gained promotion to the first division. 
The coach back then was Tebogo Mokute who is currently the team’s assistant coach.
In the 2012/13 season Highlanders for the first time managed promotion to the elite league and it was unfortunate that they relegated. 
The team’s philosophy has been to bring through youngsters while the letters BR in BR Highlanders stand for Botswana Railways hence the abbreviation. 
In the past it was known as a team for employees in the railway sector until it expanded to accommodate all players in the game.
The team is 100% financed by Botswana railways and it has been treated as part of the social welfare with the company paying its dues as a cooperate social responsibility. 
Currently it has an administration wing and the executive wing supervises it.
