The BFA has outsourced the recruitment of the CEO to a local recruitment agency.

The search began with 23 applications, and the race is now down to five. Amongst the remaining candidates are former Multichoice Botswana general manager, Billy Sekgororoane, former Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) chairperson, Solly Reikeletseng, former Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) head of corporate communications, Tiro Kganela, former assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Philip Makgalemele and banker Marang Morakaladi, who is also in the BFA ethics committee.

Recently, the BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti said the candidates would be trimmed to two before a final choice is made. Letshwiti said the BFA is in the hunt for a strategist who would be able to turn the association’s fortunes around and implement set goals.

The new CEO, who replaces Mfolo Mfolo, would start work in April.

Sources said the BFA was prepared to go outside the list if the National Executive Committee is not satisfied with the pick.

“There is a possibility that the person who comes in, fits the bill. In that case, there will be no need to headhunt. However, if there is a feeling that the person is not what the BFA is exactly looking for, then the association is prepared to search the market further,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the recruitment of the Botswana Football League CEO has been frozen due to a lack of funds.

In the race are Olebile Sikwane, CEO of Credit Reference Bureau, Gilport Lions owner, Kelesitse Gilika, Zebras general manager, Harry Koata, Kganela and former BFA head of competitions, Steven Maleka.
