Gilport, Sankoyo on recovery path

Sankoyo have now won their second successive game in just less than a week slowly moving out of the relegation zone.
Before the 2-1 victory over Motlakase Power Dynamos last weekend, Sankoyo had only tasted victory two times out of nine games.
Their 1-0 win over BR Highlanders on Tuesday now means they have collected 13 points. By press time yesterday, Sankoyo were in position 10 before last night’s matches. The Maun side had a brilliant debut season, but lost several key players and head coach, Philani Mabhena at the end of the season. Their next assignment is at home to Orapa United on Saturday.
Gilport Lions also found the going tough at the start of the season despite their squad boasting experienced players who have been in the top-flight football for a long time.
Last weekend, they beat BR Highlanders 3-1 and it was only their second victory.
On Tuesday, they beat Jwaneng Galaxy by the same score to move their points tally to 11.
They are eyeing a third successive victory when they take on troubled Motlakase over the weekend. Motlakase are yet to win a match this season.
Meanwhile, Gaborone United (GU) lost their second match in a row when they fell 1-0 to BDF XI on Tuesday afternoon. GU had just come out of a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Nico United last weekend.
After a surprise loss to Nico, many expected GU to bounce back, but found BDF XI in high spirits after beating Gunners last Saturday.
Pressure is mounting on GU technical team with other league contenders now setting a pace at the top.
Without star striker, Benson Shilongo, GU have been struggling upfront despite the addition of Hendrick Moyo to the squad this season. They take on Jwaneng Galaxy on Saturday in Molepolole with a loss now a disastrous outcome.
