Motlakase, before last night’s tough encounter against Orapa United, were still searching for their first win of the season.

Before the league resumed, Chouka fired coach Dominic Changwe over payment issues and Pule Mogotsi has been in charge.  Zimbabwean coach, Blessing Moyo has been roped in although he is yet to sit on the bench.

Club chairman, Mangisi Segadimo told Mmegi Sport his team is in the Premiership to stay. He said as soon as their problems are sorted out, the team would improve their performance.

“We are still struggling financially. We are broke and that is seriously affecting the team.  We cannot manage anything if we are broke. Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) does not help us in anyway so we will push hard to try to improve,” he said. He said individuals, including himself, have to dig into their pockets to finance the team.  But now the individuals are ‘broke’ as well.  Although he said they have been paying their players well, he admitted that the team faces a challenging time.

Mangisi said it was crucial to pay players in order to motivate them even though they face financial challenges.

“We are paying the boys so that they can focus and not be involved in anyway in the team’s politics.  We hoped that paying their salaries on time would motivate them to improve their performance.  But it seems like our struggles are mounting each day,” said Segadimo. He said expectation is that senior players would inspire youngsters in the team, but it appears the young players are more dedicated.

Segadimo was critical of their association with BPC, saying it is hindering companies from sponsoring them.
