The incident took place at around 10 pm. Botswana Police Service spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Mbulawa, confirmed this yesterday. Although Mbulawa could not reveal much information as the matter is still fresh, he confirmed that the police were alerted of the shooting by a neighbour.

“The police received a call from one of the neighbours who said that he had heard loud noise resembling gunshot,” Mbulawa said. “The Police rushed to the described area and found a man lying in a pool of blood. It seemed as if he had been shot and was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital.”

Mbulawa further said, “we have opened a murder case and we are looking for the culprits. The family has been informed and investigations are continuing.”

Fairground Holdings spokesperson, Thabo Mogomotsi also confirmed that their CEO had been shot dead.

She however said they could not say anything further because the police are still conducting their investigations. She also noted that other family members are yet to be notified. When Mmegi visited the home of the deceased, blood was still visible with police officers inspecting the house.

A family representative however refused to comment resorting only to say, “this just happened last night. We will release a statement soon though.”

The shooting of the Fairground Holdings boss comes in the wake of another shooting incident at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health last week. A man was reported to have shot a woman after dropping her off.  The suspect was still at large at the time of writing.
