ECCO beat Real Movers to move fifth PIC: KEOAGILE BONANG

Flamingoes are undefeated in five matches and have 13 points out of a possible 15.

Former Premiership side, ECCO City Greens secured a hard fought 3-2 come-from-behind win over new boys, Real Movers of Selebi-Phikwe.  The win pushed Mamoja Disk three places up to number five.

Both teams had two players sent off for an off-the-ball incident in the closing stages of the half as Movers prepared to take a corner kick.

Movers scored from the resultant corner kick with an unmarked Moemedi Mothibi heading home. After the break, Movers were awarded a penalty after a handling offence and Oabona Ramasukujane converted to make it 2-0.

ECCO pulled one back from the penalty spot through Bakang Malabola before Onkemetse Powe restored parity direct from a corner kick. Mamoja Disk grabbed the winner when Powe outran the Movers defence before setting up Pontsho Sephutho who finished well.

Movers coach, Keleneetse Leposo blamed their loss on the officials. “I don’t know why the referees tend to favour bigger teams. We lost because of the officiating, but we will bounce back,” he said.

His ECCO counterpart, Texan Phiri said his team started the season slowly because they had a complete overhaul and said they expect to develop gradually.

“We lost so many key players when we dropped to the First Division and we brought in a lot of new guys. The understanding is not there yet, but I am happy we are getting the points.

“It is too early into the league, we will take every game as it comes and we are confident at the end we will get back to the elite league,” Phiri said. In the other games, second placed GNT beat Kazungula FC 2-0, Tonota FC won 1-0 against Palapye All Stars, Mahalapye Hotspurs beat Tsabotlhe 1-0, while Maun Tigers and TASC played to a 3-3 draw.
