Fluor Opens Botswana Office

Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) is a global engineering, procurement and construction firm that designs and builds some of the world’s most complex projects.

Charles Siwawa, chief executive officer of the Botswana Chamber of Mines, participated along with other business leaders and dignitaries at the official unveiling on Thursday. 

“Africa is an emerging economy and Botswana as one of the continent’s leading democracies, will provide an excellent base for Fluor’s business,” said Rick Koumouris, president of Fluor’s Mining and Metals Group. “We are looking forward to strengthening our ability to serve clients, both existing and new, in this developing region as well as supporting Botswana’s goal to boost local business and employment diversification.”

Fluor has been working in Botswana since the early 2000s and has established a sustainable client base in the country.  The company’s first projects included the provision of technical services at the Orapa Diamond Mine, and the successful completion of the Jwaneng Cut 8 and Morupule Coal Mine expansion projects.

 “The newly established office will allow Fluor to offer integrated solutions to clients in the mining and metals, energy and chemicals, power and infrastructure market sectors,” said Andries Bester, Fluor’s country manager in Botswana. “Our capability and expertise to execute diverse scopes of work and deliver them to cost, function and schedule has earned Fluor a well-regarded reputation globally.”
