Builders Expo On The Cards

This year’s re-branded expo has attracted three sponsors. The sponsors include Botswana Housing Corporation, PPC Cement Botswana and Builders Warehouse. As part of the re-branding, the name has been changed from last year’s Airport Junction Builder’s and Construction Expo.

The organisers of the event told members of the press that they are satisfied with last year’s success of the event. Christian Ernest, who is the event’s Bookings Manager, said this year’s expo is expected to be bigger and better.

He said already the number of bookings has surpassed last year’s and are hoping to register more in the coming week leading to the official opening.

“We are satisfied with the growth, that’s why we are having it again this year. The number of exhibitors has already gone past that of last year and the number is expected to grow. You know that people like to do last minute things,” he said.

Ernest said the event has been designed to give innovative platform for exhibitors, customers to meet, network, sell and launch new products. Ernest said for consumers, this is a one-stop shop for them to meet property financers, insurances and buy building and construction materials.

He said construction is an economic driver adding that this is evidenced by the Stimulus Package recently pronounced by President Ian Khama, which he alluded weighed much towards development and construction.

He said a good construction industry bodes well for strong economic development in a developing country like Botswana.

Builders Warehouse Key Accounts Manager, Kenny Ratsoma, praised the event saying it contributes to the company’s high sales. He said as one of the largest retail construction company in the industry, they want to use this opportunity to show the wide range of goods they sell.

Airport Junction Mall Marketing Officer, Kefilwe Kgosikhumo, said they were impressed by the inaugural expo last year. He said although they do not have a contract with the organisers of the event, last year’s success meant they continued as the host.

He said their tenants experience high sales because of the high foot traffic during the expo. He stated that the intention is to continue the partnership and grow with the event as it promotes the mall.
