After beating 11 other contestants in the national pageant, she will now compete against other contestants in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico from October 17-25.  Serumola, who was crowned in March, has been working with SOS children. “I have been travelling around the country as a motivational speaker and I held seminars in schools and villages,” she said.

Serumola told Showtime that she will do her best to bring home the crown. “This crown represents the beauty of Botswana, which is botho (dignity) and discipline,” she said.

She indicated that it was her first time to win a national title. Serumola said she decided to participate in the beauty pageant after seeing an advertisement in a newspaper. “I tried my luck and look at me now, I won the title and I will be representing my country and I feel proud,” she said.

Serumola said even if she wins the international crown, she will not relocate. “No I wont relocate, my heart is here,” she emphasised.

The Bachelor of Science (BSC) Emergency Medical Care student at Boitekanelo College said she plans to pursue her studies and chase her other talent as a model. “It is all about time management. I am studying to be a paramedic, but I make sure that I create the balance between the two. “My title requires me to travel around a lot, but the duration of the crown only lasts for a year so there is no way it can interfere with my studies,” she highlighted.

The 20-year old Serumola said she will continue to pursue her passion in modelling even if she doesn’t win in Mexico. “This is my passion and I won’t stop till I reach my peak,” she said. Serumola said she is inspired by Mpule Kwelagobe.

She thanked her aunt for believing in her and supporting her dream.

Miss Culture and Peace International started in 2014 and Antonella Garrone from Argentina won the crown.  The inaugural pageant featured 11 countries.
