Gunners under new coach, Daniel Nare were desperate to return to winning ways but nothing seemed to work for them, especially in the first half.

Amos Godirwang, who partnered Kemmy Pilato, was anonymous most of the time and lost possession in the midfield on several occasions. Boitshoko Zikhale also failed to come to the party leaving only Tshegofatso Chimuku as the only threat going forward.

BDF XI on the other hand looked solid and defended in numbers, but created more chances going forward. Kabelo Seakanyeng and Keeagile Kobe gave Gunners’ defence a torrid time with their speed and skill. BDF XI took the lead in the 18th minute when Kaunda cleverly moved away from Gunners’ defence before connecting Kobe’s sublime pass.

They nearly increased the lead in almost the same fashion three minutes later, but this time Ofentse Mmipi shot straight at Gunners goalkeeper, Wagarre Dikago. BDF XI were dealt a minor blow when Kaunda, who looked dangerous all the time he had the ball went out through injury just a minute before half time. However, they increased the lead in the 45th minute through Phiri. Kabelo Seakanyeng beat the Gunners’ defence on the right and cut inside before setting up oncoming Phiri whose powerful drive gave Dikago no chance.

Gunners continued to struggle early in the second half with BDF XI asking questions. In the middle of the second half, Gunners made substitutions in an attempt to take control of the match. Kgaodi Odirile, Thabiso Mabachi and Kelelelo Kgosimore replaced ineffective Godirwang, Zikhale and Monageng Thaele. Gunners immediately took control of the match and created some chances.

Kgosimore had the chance to pull one back moments after his introduction, but his header went wide. Mogomotsi Mokoka also tested BDF XI goalkeeper, Mwampule Masule but the towering goalkeeper passed the test.

BDF XI later that evening moved back to position two after Rollers defeated Miscellaneous in Serowe. Gunners on the other hand have lost their fourth consecutive game and they take on log leaders, Rollers  on Wednesday.
