Rollers, who fielded a largely changed side after opting to rest their national team players, stay top.

The game started in a frenetic attacking pace but both sides missed early opportunities, which meant it was deadlocked at halftime. A few minutes from halftime Rollers coach, Mark Harrison was forced to substitute injured Otlantshekela Mooketsi for Letumile Molebatsi. Jerome Ramatlhakwane made way for Moalosi.

Moalosi justified his entry when he broke the deadlock with a delightful chip in the 70th following an interchange of passes with Motsholetsi Sikele and Finnigan.

Popa extended the lead five minutes later through Finnigan’s wonderful finish. Miscellaneous goalkeeper, Bophelo Kealeboga should have done better though.

Harrison said his boys played well. “Miscellaneous had not lost (at) home. This is a good result. And from how the boys played, I will be spoilt for choice in the next games,” Harrison said.

He admitted their opponents gave them a tough time, adding that the first goal took the steam out of Miscellaneous.

Harrison explained that he rested his national team players to save them for upcoming tough fixtures, which will see Rollers play Extension Gunners, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Police XI.

Miscellaneous coach, Russia Chaba said he was happy that his plan to frustrate Popa in the first half worked. He said his boys took control of the game and were only unlucky to score.

“To lose a game to Rollers is not a big mistake because it is a big team with experienced players.  We managed to attack them.”
