Auditions for aspiring gospel stars this Saturday

The talented gospel singer, who is also a pastor at Pure Miracle Temple will host auditions for those who are aspiring to be gospel musicians at Gaborone Hotel on Saturday.
Through the auditions Leteane is looking to form an ensemble of 32, to be called The Family Joint. Leteane explained that after auditions selected members would undergo rigorous training in areas that include voice training, dealing with fame, and the importance of singing gospel music.
“It is common for people to get into music without any form of training, and as such some end up tarnishing their careers because they cannot handle fame. Making too much money comes with a lot of temptation, thus it is important for aspirants to go through training, which will prepare them on how to handle themselves as gospel singers,” he said. Leteane explained that aspirants should understand that talent alone is not enough, adding that it is important for raw talent to be nurtured and polished. The Family Joint gospel group will have the benefits of refining the raw talents into reputable gospel musicians.
Leteane said after the formation of the group, the training would begin, after which the group will stage promotional performances as an introduction to the public.
The performances will also provide group members with a platform for exposure. He said the group would then go into the studio to record an album.
“The group will not necessarily have a set lifespan, as musicians who have reached a stage of going solo will be released to launch their careers,” he said. Leteane said that members would be released from the group, as they, mature musically, to start their solo careers, explaining that new aspirants will be added to the fill the space.
“The cycle will continue. We will add new members to the group as others go solo,” he said.
He said hopefuls should know that they are not going to limit genres, as they want everyone to sing in the style they are comfortable with, explaining that any kind of gospel music will be welcome.
He added that the group would also sing in different local languages.
He said that hopefully by the time the group members go solo, they would be able to handle themselves and build legacies of their own.
He said that all members will be encouraged to be themselves and not emulate other gospel singers.
