BIC donates sanitary pads

The monthly pad donations are given to the vulnerable and disadvantaged girls in support of the Dignity Foundation’s drive which is to empower and improve the lives of underprivileged young girls in Botswana.
The Dignity Foundation Trust is mandated to provide, amongst other things, sanitary pads, counselling, and cancer preventative medical exams.
“Community Social Responsibility is very close to our hearts at BIC and we believe in the empowerment and betterment of the society we live within. Giving back to the community gives us a sense of purpose in life as individuals and the organisation as a whole and we believe a little bit goes a long way,” said a staff member.
BIC Strategy Development and Marketing Manager, Komissa Burzlaff highlighted that, “the CSR strategy is now coming into full force and what is important is seeing BIC employees taking a proactive, leading role in driving the sanitary pad collections and participating not only with the Dignity Foundation partnership, but being active and involved in other CSR initiatives.
BIC takes its CSR role very seriously and we will continue to invest more into the country’s social development.”
Chairman of the Foundation Mokgadi Nteta, said the need for sanitary pads is heartbreaking and she believes with the support the Foundation is getting from BIC, they will be able to assist the girls better.
“The need for sanitary pads is extremely high with calls coming in weekly, but the support from the community at large is still low,” said Mokgadi.
The Dignity Foundation Trust is a Foundation established by a few very passionate Batswana women who would like to empower and improve the lives of the underprivileged girl-child and young woman, in recognising the needs and disadvantages experienced by them in multifaceted ways.
The seed that inspired the Dignity Foundation, was the humiliation and indignity experienced when a girl stains her clothes or misses school just because she does not have a sanitary pad to use.
