Man shoots lover at Ministry of Health headquarters

Sources tell The Monitor that the boyfriend, who allegedly fired two bullets into the body of his girlfriend, was moments earlier reportedly seen with the woman in his car outside the buildings. As she stepped out to walk to the building, he allegedly followed her, shot twice, jumped back into his car and drove off.

The suspect is identified as Alford Serumola of Ramotswa.

As The Monitor talked to sources to piece the puzzle together, it emerged that the shooter was frustrated lover, unhappy with his girlfriend’s alleged affair with another man.

Botswana Police Service spokesman Dipheko Motube confirmed the incident.

He could also not say if indeed the victim was in a love affair with the shooter. All Motube could reveal was that the police were still looking for the culprit.

By press time yesterday, it was unclear whether the woman had survived the violent shooting, as the police were also unsure of the developments.

A female Facebooker narrated the scary incident, how she saw two shots being fired at the woman before the man jumped into his car and drove off.

She said she tried calling the police on the 999-hotline number as she chased after the fleeing shooter, but it went answered until she decided to drive back to the scene.
