Ba Isago University adopts Dithejwane JSS

The school was celebrating the students who excelled in their examinations and various disciples such as sports, music and performing arts.
The theme for the ceremony was, “Education: A Powerful Weapon To Change The World”. Speaking during the ceremony, Ba Isago University Managing Director, Odirile Gabasiane said that the board of directors of Ba Isago University, management and the entire university community have decided to adopt Dithejwane JSS for guidance and support purposes.
This adoption will take a period of 18 to 24 months. He however noted that the adoption of the school would be a continuous process especially after the signing of memorandum of agreement between the school and Ba Isago University management. Part of the support extended to the school includes the donation of about 15 new computers with Internet connection and procuring a photocopying/fax machine and library books, among others. “As you would know, the government of Botswana is continuously appealing to all of us to take active part in contributing towards the development of our education systems, through public private partnerships. Today, this is going to be a living testimony to such a loud and clear call,” said Gabasiane.
During the awards presentation, Gabasiane also promised to offer a full sponsorship to a reformed student who was previously badly behaved in the school. Apparently, the student was caused trouble to the school and his schoolmates and teachers.
The student and others were admitted into the school’s Wellness Club to assist in the improvement of their behaviour, and the result is the boy is now on his best behaviour and highly exemplary to other students.
The school head, Gloria Mogomotsi, acknowledged the noble gesture demonstrated by Gabasiane and his institution. “We appreciate your support. This is our school, all of us. We need each other,” said Mogomotsi.
The school head remarked that the day was meant to encourage the students to perform well in their academic work. “Our country has a dream. Therefore we as a school we also support the dream to have educated and informed communities.”
The day, according to the head teacher, was to inspire all the students that they can all be given awards for their best results. She said the awards were given only to those students who have passed above 80% on specific subjects.
Appreciating the ocassion, PTA member Machana Marumo called on parents to be active in their children’s schoolwork. He encouraged them to engage with school management for the improvement of the learning environment. He also acknowledged the positive results of the school’s Wellness Club for transforming the trouble- making students into be better persons.
