The nominations are expected to be more exciting than ever, secretary general of union, Pagson Ntsie, told Showbiz this week. He said unlike past years the entries were of higher and competition proved to be stiff.

Ntsie said BOMU would be unveiling the nominees for this year at the fairgrounds holding this evening.

The nominations lines will be open as soon as the nominees are released.

“Entries were very satisfactory looking at the number of around 150 entrants as compared to 60 that we received last year,” he said.

For the first time this year, BOMU introduced the “best singles” category. Showbiz has been exclusively informed that the category was the most contended.

It remains to be seen which song will take the coveted song of the year title with a number of hit songs that have been enjoying the airways. The best newcomer award is also one to look out for with a number of young and upcoming artists having blossomed this year.

It also remains to be seen if the fresh legs will outclass the legends of the industry. Popular names like Vee, Women of Jazz, Tshepo Lesole, Dj Oats were dominating the winners’ list last year. The award ceremony will be held on October 31 at the Gaborone International Convection Centre.
