Letlhakane woman commits suicide

According to Letlhakane Police Station commander, superintendent Michael Maphephu the deceased woman allegedly committed suicide in Karapa settlement just a few kilometres away from Letlhakane village.

He said that the incident took place on Tuesday morning.

The police boss said that the deceased left her home in Karapa settlement in a joyous mood informing her family members that she was going to assist one of her friends to harvest beans at the fields.

He added that the same woman was later found hanging from a tree with her hair scarf around her neck tied to one of the branches.

He also said that the deceased woman was found by children playing along the gravel road near the tree where the discovery was made.

Maphephu said that the deceased did not leave a suicide note, which has left most of her family members confused about the whole incident.

Meanwhile, Letlhakane police have arrested a 32-year-old man of Buhe ward in Letlhakane in connection with the murder of a 42-year-old man of the same ward.

Maphephu said that the incident took place during the wee hours after Good Friday at the deceased’s compound.

He added that they suspected that the terrible incident might have happened when there was no one at home.

He said that the deceased person was found in his car with blood everywhere by his worker when reporting for duty in the morning.

Maphephu added: “The tuckshop worker found the deceased person lying lifeless in his car in a pool of blood.”

He added that they gathered through police interrogation that the suspect and the deceased had a misunderstanding earlier that day.

He said that after the misunderstanding the suspect allegedly followed the deceased person at his house and attacked him with an unknown object.

The police chief said that the suspect is still in police custody and would appear before Letlhakane Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Investigations in the two matters are still ongoing.
