The committee argued that the player was improperly registered. Mojaki told Mmegi Sport that the secretariat is trying to get back at him hence the reason why Takunda was declared a defaulter.

“We are actually shocked that the DC has declared Takunda a defaulter although he was never de-registered. He is still using the same licence that he was using last season, and this licence does not expire,” he said.

He said Takunda played only three games this season and the secretariat did not produce the match reports of the first two games. “The secretariat did not produce match reports for the Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Police XI games. They only produced a match report from the Green Lovers game and this is the match they refer to in the case,” Mojaki said.

“When I was the Premier League Committee vice-chairperson last season I changed a lot of things. At the time I got into office, the Premier League did not have any vehicle but depended on rentals which is against the regulations.” He said his actions did not sit well with some of the secretariat members hence the reason why they are using the Takunda case as an excuse to get back at him. “People are running the Premier League as if it is their family business and we cannot allow that. They are using emotions to run the secretariat and one should also remember that I exposed them last season with the Sankoyo Bush Bucks case so this is a clear witch-hunt against me,” Mojaki said.

He also said they had asked the DC to postpone the hearing, but the request was turned down.

Efforts to get a comment from the Botswana Premier League chief executive officer, Bennett Mamelodi were futile at press time. Satmos is set to appear before the DC tomorrow, charged with four counts of misconduct arising from fielding Takunda.
