Township Rollers maintained their stranglehold at the top despite a 0-0 stalemate with Gaborone United in the Battle of Gaborone.

Both teams needed the three points, but they were also fighting for the bragging rights of the city. Rollers coach, Mark Harrison and his Gaborone United counterpart, Rahman Gumbo admitted a draw was a fair result at the end of the day.

Things continued to fall apart for Extension Gunners who lost 1-0 to premiership new boys, Green Lovers. After a wonderful start in the opening four games, Gunners are going through a rough patch with suspended coach, Pio Paul’s case still unresolved.

Green Lovers’ marksman, Moatlhodi Ralesotla increased his goal tally to 10 this season making him the leading top goal scorer.

BDF XI rubbed more salt into FC Satmos’ wound, beating the Selebi-Phikwe side 1-0. Satmos were recipients of a 9-1 demolition at the hands of log leaders Rollers last weekend and might be headed for disaster after accumulating only four points in nine games.

Miscellaneous took three points from former leaders, Police XI. The loss for Police XI means that they drop to third position, three points behind Rollers.

BR Highlanders and Motlakase Power Dynamos shared points in a goalless draw while Nico United and Gilport Lions drew 1-1. New side, Jwaneng Galaxy beat Sankoyo Bush Bucks 2-0 to secure their position in the top 10.  Defending champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs continued their goal drought when they played to a 0-0 draw against Orapa United. Orapa United are forth with 18 points, a place and two points above the defending champions.

A total of seven goals were scored during the eight league games this weekend and six teams managed to find the net while 10 teams failed to score.

Rollers are still two points clear at the top of the table and they are yet to lose this season. Army side, BDF XI are making an early charge as they lie second on 19 points. Bottom side Motlakase have won only once this season and are early relegation candidates.
