Police VI lead the Mascom Volleyball League and took their form to the cup competition qualifiers held in Serowe over the weekend.

Police started their route to the final by beating Kalavango 3-1 before sealing their spot with a 3-0 hammering of Spiking Stars. Police VI have now set-up a date against Kutlwano in the final.

Police VI captain, Happy Ribbin told Mmegi Sport yesterday that they are excited to have reached the final.

He said they reached the final again last season, but unfortunately lost when it mattered most. He said they do no want to repeat the same mistake. Ribbin said his side is balanced and they are aware of what lies ahead on Saturday.

“We expect out setters to win the match for us on the day because they know how to beat opponents. Last season we were still new and did not settle well into the tournament. This time around we have been together since the beginning of the season and we are playing well,” he said.

Police VI have accumulated 36 points after winning 12 league matches and only lost one match to Kutlwano in the first round. Ribbin said this is a sign that sparks would fly in the final. He believes that his side has all the qualities to walk away with the coveted trophy. Ribbin admitted that playing against Kutlwano is not easy, but they are ready for them.

Kutlwano booked themselves a spot in the final by beating Itekeng 3-0 and went on to hammer BDF VI 3-1.

Meanwhile, the women’s final will be between Mafolofolo and Kutlwano.

Mafolofolo sailed to the final after beating Kalavango 3-1 with Kutlwano prevailing 3-1 over BDF VI.  In other top eight matches, BDF VI won 3-1 against Mag Stimela, while Diphatsa went down 3-0 to Spiking Stars.

In the women’s competition, the champions get P25,000 while losing finalists receive P14,000. The third placed team gets P10,500 with the forth team pocketing P8,500. Capital Motors tournament is used as a qualifier for the Zone Six Club Championships.
