It was a massive win for the young team. Dynamites captain, Kesego Paul told Mmegi Sport that they were always regarded as underdogs but they wanted people to start taking them seriously. She said winning against a star-studded side was an achievement.

Kalavango came with national team players: Gabaresepe Mashaole, Monica Alfred, Collin Mothei and Gaone Lemphitlhetse to the game but still lost.

The Dynamites have another opportunity to inflict further misery on Kalavango as the two meet in a fortnight when the league resumes.

Kalavango, Mafolofolo and Kutlwano had been the three dominant sides in volleyball. Paul said her team comprises youngsters such as Jestinah Moyo, Neo Keitumele, Thato Solomon, Moitlamo Nkobedi, Khumo Mogocha, and Khumo Bofedile. The oldest players in the team are Paul and Maipelo Othusitse.

“Our squad comprises mostly students and as a coach I also meet the team on match day because I am based in Orapa,” she said. “It is our mind set that drives us to victory. We have told ourselves that hard work will see us through in the end.”

Dynamites president, Mpho Tlhaselo said when he formed the teams 10 years ago, the aim was to beat one of the top three teams by 2015. The club will celebrate 10 years of existence in Otse on November 28. He described the win as a dream come true. The remaining challenge is the next game against Kalavango in Lobatse on October 18.

“We expect to have a tough time as four of our players will not be available because of BGCSE examinations,” Tlhaselo said. “We have stopped them from playing because we want them to concentrate on their examinations.”

He said big clubs showed interest in recruiting some Dynamites players, but he advised the youngsters to thread carefully because playing for a big club was not easy. He added that Dynamites players should appreciate that age was on their side.

Tlhaselo said the first round of the league was tough as Dynamites failed to honour some matches because some players were absent.
