The appointment comes after the Post’s former CEO, Pele Moleta resigned six months ago to join Barclays Bank of Botswana.

Following the resignation, Setshedi Botlhole-Mmopi was appointed to act in the position from April to date. Before his appointment, Ramatlhakwane was serving as head of business development for almost seven years, a post he will occupy until Independence day.

Last Friday, BotswanaPost head of strategy and communications, Lebogang Bok announced the appointment on behalf of the board of directors.

“On behalf of the chairman of the board of directors of BotswanaPost and the board members, kindly be notified that Mr Cornelius Ramatlhakwane has been appointed BotswanaPost chief executive, effective 1st October 2015,” read a statement from the post office.

However, BotswanaPost board chairman, Pedro Motau told Mmegi Business that Botlhole-Mmopi will revert to her original post, where she served before the appointment as acting CE.

“It is a formal procedure that when you act in a post, when the position is filled, you go back to your original post. So Botlhole-Mmopi will go to her post as head of mail business,” said Motau.

Botlhole-Mmopi was working as a chief financial officer before being appointed as the head of mail business in 2013.
