ECCO emerge from slumber to thump GNT

Mamojadiski had a poor start to the season and faced harsh criticism from their supporters. ECCO lost their two opening league fixtures and a third successive loss would have put their title credentials into further doubt.

On Sunday ECCO were boosted by the availability of South African born forward, Lovers Mofokeng, who contributed a single goal in the match before coming off after sustaining an injury.  The South African was making his debut after sitting out in the first two matches due to work permit issues.

There was no sign of ECCO’s highly rated Tanzanian marksman, Iddi Banka, who is still awaiting approval of his work permit.

On Saturday, Kazungula FC won the top of the table clash against Tsabothe at home. Going into the weekend, Tsabothe were at the top of the table, having accumulated six points while the host were second with four points.

Despite their win, Kazungula remain in position two because Sua Flamengoes who are also on seven points enjoyed a healthy 2-0 home victory against Tonota FC to move to the top.

Tsabothe have now dropped to position three. Powerhouse TAFIC were held to a 0-0 draw by Selebi-Phikwe side, Real Movers, who are making their First Division debut.

Both teams have registered one win, a draw and a single loss in their opening league fixtures but the Phikwe side is at position seven, one place above TAFIC because of a healthy goal difference.

Sixth placed Palapye All Stars held TASC to a goalless draw at home. Both sides have each managed four points, but TASC are perched at position nine by virtue of a poor goal difference.

For the second time in three matches, Maun Tigers failed to capatilise on home advantage losing 2-1 against Mahalapye Hotspurs. The Maun side is rooted at the bottom of the 12-team league table having lost all of their matches.
