Hendrick Moyo scored the only goal when GU beat Green Lovers on Friday

Moyo missed the start of the season following a delay caused by a conflict about his transfer from Orapa United. However, the lad displayed a man-of-the-match winning performance -- playing with confidence. From the start, GU posed a threat and visited Green Lovers’ area several times.

Lovers came to life in the 16th minute connecting neat passes and forcing their first corner, but the visitors’ defence was solid. With Lovers gaining momentum and their defence getting stronger, GU were forced to shoot from outside the box. For the better of the first half, the Gaborone giants dominated possession which forced Lovers to sit back in their half. In the 39th minute after a succession of quick passes, Goitseone Phoko rolled the ball to Simanyana who set Moyo through with a wondrous pass and Moyo struck a 25-yard drive to break the deadlock.

From the recess, Lovers made two changes bringing in Edwin Tshimologo for Audreen Chisiyanwa and Doctor Radipampiri for Kabo Ikaneng. After a change of the game plan, Lovers began to play with intent and combined well in the box. The Serowe side, however, was wasteful, playing one too many touches inside the box while they lacked the cutting edge with their marksman Moatlhodi Ralesotla out on suspension.
