Both sides started the game looking for an early goal. Keitiretse Madikwe nearly put Prisons on the drivers seat in the 15th minute after beating Boys’ defence, but his shot went over the cross bar.

Rolling Boys were awarded a set piece in the dangerous area, but they failed to take advantage. Gomolemo Ramaabya combined well with Koketso Mokgatitswane but Ramaabya’s header hit the cross bar before it went out. Boys coach, Thaloba Nthaga was forced to make a substitution in the 25th minute after Omphile Sebolai was injured, throwing in fresh legs of Denis Kaelo.

Mokgatitswane tested the nerves of Prisons goalkeeper, Andrew Race with a long-range shot but Race was equal to the task. Prisons went to the halftime break leading 1-0 courtesy of Konda’s goal in the 30th minute.

Boys kicked off the second stanza by introducing Orapeleng Nkwe in place of a defender, Thabang Thebeyamodimo. The arrival of Nkwe upfront saw Rolling Boys creating more scoring opportunities. The only obstacle on their path was Prisons goalkeeper who was having a great game.

Prisons coach, Kaelo Montwedi told Monitor Sport after the match that they could have won the game with more goals but failed to utilise their chances. He said he was using young players and hope they would grow with time. For his part, Nthaga said his players did not come to the party on the day. He said as such they did not deserve anything from the match. He said the idea was to prepare well for their next match against Letlapeng.
