Manyapetsa finally joins BDP

The former council candidate for Naledi South was welcomed to the ruling party fold together with Virginia Masole at the party’s monthly press conference yesterday.
Manyapetsa told the press conference that he decided to join the BDP after it showed seriousness in recruiting him.
“The BDP members are the only ones who showed love and care when I went through hard times in my political life. That alone made me realise that they are completely different people from how I used to portray them,” said Manyapetsa.
“I had to make a serious assessment and discuss with my family, about my decision. Of course Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) is one of the parties I thought of. But it did not show commitment like the BDP,” he added.
While Manyapetsa confessed undying love for his former party, he promised BDP members that he would deliver the same way he had been doing at the BCP.
He said the BDP recruited him after they saw his capabilities in the BCP.
The BDP communication and international relations chairperson Thapelo ‘Fish’ Pabalinga said unlike other political parties, which reject members, their party is ready to accept any member.
“Politics is about numbers and our party needs members because we are preparing for 2019. We are going to go all out to recruit members and even those who are being rejected by opposition parties,” said Pabalinga.
Manyapetsa and Masole left the BCP just when they were about to appear before a disciplinary hearing for engaging in clandestine meetings with the top BDP leadership.
In July the BCP executive committee suspended the duo and their co-accused, former BCPYL secretary general, Thato Osupile, and Oganne Mazwigwila from the party, pending investigation of breach of party discipline. Immediately after, Osupile and Mazwigwila resigned from the BCP and joined the BDP.
