Miss Africa to get diamond studded crown

The pageant has entered into an agreement with diamond firm Phatsima Jewellery, who are already designing the crown.
Miss Africa CEO Bruce Nkgakile said though they are yet to confirm the diamond carats of the crown, the design stage is already at an advanced stage.
“We are meeting with the jewellery company soon to evaluate the design and approve it,” he said. Nkgakile said they opted for a diamond-studded crown in order to make the queen appreciate the aura and strength of being a continental beauty.
The Miss Africa grand prize has not been announced yet although there are only five weeks left to the grand final, which will be held at Ditshupo Hall on November 7, 2015.
Nkgakile said they are delaying announcement of the grand prize in order to instill discipline within the models and avoid desperation among them, which could lead them to engaging in immoral activities to gain favour and clinch the title.
This has left a number of people in suspense, wondering what the grand prize could be.
The top 15 models were also given an opportunity to introduce themselves and make speech presentations to the judges, which was also part of their continuous assessment.
They delivered different speeches with some preferring to speak in the native language of Setswana, while others mixed with the Queen’s language. The presentations touched on different issues such as the economy, national, social and continental issues.
Nkgakile said they have also entered an agreement with the African princess Yvonne Chaka Chaka and The Soil, who have agreed to perform at the grand finale for free, as a way of supporting the Miss Africa initiative of re- branding the continent.
Songstress Yvonne Chaka Chaka is well known for spear heading a number of initiatives across Africa.
The Lesotho royal family has also shown patronage towards the Miss Africa initiative. HRH Seiso Seiso who is the uncle and advisor of King Letsie III will also grace the grand finale.
Four local musicians will get an opportunity to perform at this event through the ongoing online voting process on the Miss Africa Facebook page.
Facebookers are supposed to vote for their favourite artist to perform at the event by commenting with the name of the artist on the voting post.
