But, GU has rubbished the claims saying Gumbo remains in charge while Stanojlovic would maintain his position. Stanojlovic was in charge of GU in midweek where he led the team to victory against Miscellaneous while Gumbo was attending family matters in his homeland, Zimbabwe.
Desanti, of International Marketing Communication (IMC), disclosed to Mmegi Sport yesterday that the club is interested in his client’s services. “They (GU) are interested in his services, but I can’t give too much details as of now because it might hamper our relations,” Desanti said.
He said language barrier maybe the issue preventing his client from getting the job. He, however, said coaches should be hired looking at the kind of work they put in and the language should not be a factor. Stanojlovic is neither fluent in Setswana nor English.
GU’s public relations officer, Mike Mafhute rubbished the rumours that the club is anyway lining Stanojlovic to replace Gumbo. “He (Stanojlovic) can sit on the bench in the absence of the head coach. We are in noway trying to replace Gumbo. One should understand just like the captaincy, anyone can be the coach for the match day,” he said.
Meanwhile, Desanti disclosed that Stanojlovic is in demand as he has received enquiries from clubs in neighbouring Namibia and Zambia. “Forest Rangers in Zambia and African Stars in Namibia are some of the clubs interested in his services, but he is fully committed to his work at GU,” he said. The United Kingdom (UK) based agent believes if his client improves on the language, many offers may come his way.
Desanti represents a number of coaches and players in the local league. They include Orapa United coach, Madinda Ndlovu and the Ghanaian duo of Bismark Appiah and Godwin Osei Bonsu.
