Prisons out to tame star-studded Kutlwano

Prisons go into the match with their tails up after beating Kalavango and Tanian 3-2 3-0 respectively last weekend at the same venue.
On the other hand, Kutlwano has been missing in action because most of its players were part of the national team that competed in the just ended All Africa Games held in Brazzaville, Congo. It is never a dull moment when ‘The Big House’ takes on its opponents.
In an interview with Mmegi Sport, Prisons coach Kealeboga Pebe said the aim is to continue with their winning streak but that it is a tough task when playing against Kutlwano. He said most of their players are part of the national team and they have more experience than his squad.
“They might be coming from Congo and one might think they are tired. Unlike other sports, the more you play volleyball the more sharper you become.
They are coming back with more skills. Despite that, we are going to fight with everything at our disposal,” said Pebe.
The Police mentor said he expects his players to stick to instructions on how to approach the game. He said they intend to walk away with a set even if they were to lose the game. In their second match, Prisons will battle it out against BDF VI. Pebe said the army side is not a threat because most of its players have quit the team. He said they are not expecting much opposition from BDF VI.
Kutlwano coach, Isaac Samuel said they started preparations on Tuesday because five of the players were arriving from the national team duty. He said they intend to work hard and win all their games because Police is currently on top. Samuel said he is hopeful the players have learnt a lot from other African players and that knowledge will benefit the team. He said the plan is to defend the league title and also walk away with the Capital Motors title.
“We have been missing out on Zone Six championship, which is a gateway to the Africa Cup and we want to qualify for the competition this year. We can only do that if we clinch the league,” he said. Meanwhile, Samuel said most of his players are youngsters and that is a way of building the team for the future. The last match for the defending champions is against Desert Kings on Saturday.
