Biggest Independence Cupcake Mosaic Returns

 

The children who were selected from 6 different centers came together to decorate and put together a 6 meters by 6 meters cupcake mosaic of the Botswana national flag.

This exercise took up a whooping 6888 cupcakes, which were used to create this huge masterpiece befitting the 48th Independence.“It is our wish to do this project again this year as we celebrate our independence in a special way, touching the lives of those we intimately care most about being children who include orphans and vulnerable children.

This event is scheduled for the 24th of September at Thapong Visual Arts Center,” the Managing Director of Young Chefs Academy Gobonaone Modisane said. This event is intended to amongst other things include the children with special needs in the country’s independence celebration in accordance with the provision of the education policy, which promotes inclusion into the mainstream activities.

 It is aimed to raise funds for the Kgale Hill Special Education Unit as well as to build confidence and self worth amongst our children. The idea is also to create the biggest Cupcake Mosaic in Southern Africa and possible have it documented in the Genius Book of Records.

The Independence Cupcake Mosaic is expected to be a fun filled interactive day, which shall include numerous other activities to engage the crowd while decorating the cupcakes. More than 8000 cupcakes will be used in this year decorations. There will be dance-offs, hula-hoops, food relays, trolley challenges and cake decorations demonstrations and many more other exciting activities. Members of the public will then have an opportunity to purchase the cupcakes as a way of raising funds.
