The three-member male band well-known for their electrifying energy on stage and unique sense of fashion, which included briefcases, jackets and patched pants, have decided to change their look from casual to formal.

The band, which consists of Tiro Thebe, Bakang Mphele and Leo Malomo are known for hit singles such as Tanki Ya Motswana, Sebinjolo, Dalas and Mma Sechaba.

The band members have also swapped their ragged looking attires for formal outfits of designer suits, fresh cuts and leather briefcases.

Showbiz caught with the trio, who were rocking Keno custom designer suits and nerd glasses with a golden frame. Their new look has managed to put them on the spotlight, as it has caught many people’s attention.

Mphele said they had decided to rebrand and grow.

“We decided to rebrand because we cannot be doing the same thing for five years; people are even copying our style,” he said.

Mphele said they have advanced a number of elements on their style, which includes their dress style and music. Malomo said they have grown musically.  “Our name Makau says it all. We are now representing the brand, looking the part as gentlemen.

We have made the image more cleaner,” he said. The trio told Showbiz that they have also decided to be more versatile and explore other music genres such as house, jazz and hip-hop.

Malomo explained that they could not reach a wide market with their trademark ‘Mosakaso’ music genre.

“Listeners have different musical tastes that cut across varying genres, which will allow us to now reach out to a wider market,” he said.  The newly rebranded group is currently looking for managers and creative directors.  Makau will soon drop a single titled Mr DJ.  Band member Thebe said it was dedicated to all the DJs, we thought of dedicating this one to them,” he said.  Thebe said the soon-to-be-released track is house music fused with Mosakaso.

Makau worked with Chef Gustos and Team Distant vocalist Roy K on the track.

Mphele said financial constraints have forced them to re-group and explore different ways to improve their music.

“We were broke. We have been drawing up plans to come with a solid idea and we are now back,” he said.  The group is currently in studio working on a new album. They have roped in different producers such as BK Proctor, Suffocate and Tshepo Lesole to add magic to their new offering.
