Although Gunners could not confirm the development at the time of going to press, there were reports that his suspension letter was waiting for him yesterday. The club’s spokesperson, Keorapetse Kgasa said they could not reveal anything before they meet with Paul.

However, he confirmed they are carrying out investigations and would meet with the coach for discussions over that. “It will not be fair to him to reveal what exactly we are investigating since we have not met with him as yet. He has travelled to South Africa and we are waiting to meet with him and hold discussions,” he said.

Paul on the other hand yesterday said he was in the dark about his alleged suspension. He said he only heard through grapevine and had not received anything to that effect from the management at the time of going to press. Paul joined Gunners in the middle of last season as an assistant coach and elevated to the head coach position this season after the departure of Calvin Petersen. He has since led the team to a dream start, winning their first four matches before they lost to Orapa United. They then played to a draw against Miscellaneous before they lost 1-0 to Chiefs this past weekend.

By yesterday morning, speculation was rife over the reasons for his fallout with the club management. Some attributed his suspension to the utterances allegedly made after their game against Chiefs in which he singled out one of his key players for blame.

Paul in his post match interview had said central defender, Desire Bafana, did not have a good game and had a hand in the solitary goal conceded. There were also reports that he had fallout with the management prior to the game. It is also alleged that Paul also had a fallen out with his assistant, Oupa Kowa, a week before their game against Chiefs.

He is reportedly on his way out of Gunners just after seven matches in charge.
