Chouka are stuck at the bottom of the log with one point from a possible 21, having conceded 19 goals and scoring only three times. This is Motlakase’s worst start since they were promoted to the Premiership five seasons ago.

TRFA chairman, Fobby Radipotsane told the regional football body’s meeting that they are anxious about Motlakase’s position. He said their wish is to increase the number of teams competing in the top leagues. “As a region our aim is to be competitive and have more teams competing in the Premiership and First Division. Our region is growing and our football must also grow.

“We have Motlakase in the Premiership, but we are worried because we see them dropping points week in and week out and yet they have never approached us to inform us of their situation. We have always been open to assisting Motlakase in tough times and any other team representing our region when they are in need,” he said.

Radipotsane said Motlakase approached them last season and were duly assisted. Meanwhile, the Tswapong Region Division One league was launched at the same meeting. Radipotsane said in the past seasons there were lots of distractions caused by shortage of referees and teams that fail to honour matches.

“In the past, we had a problem of lack of trained referees which compromised the quality of our football. We have now identified more than 30 personnel mainly BIUST and Lotsane students who have volunteered and will be trained as referees. We hope that will improve the standard of our refereeing. “We have learnt that there are other teams that boycott the second round of the league when they realise that it’s impossible to catch up with log leaders and therefore making life difficult for others. We have now introduced a Top Four tournament to encourage the teams to keep fighting for positions. We have secured a sponsor for the Top Four games and we will be unveiling the sponsor in due course, so we encourage all the teams to work hard,” Radipotsane said.
