The committee met on Sunday and resolved that the Gaborone North branch should furnish it (committee) with documentation that include the minutes of the meeting where the issue was discussed.

BMD deputy secretary general, Tseleng Bothole confirmed that Pilane’s issue was on the agenda of the Sunday meeting.

“There is no development regarding that issue.

We had written to the branch to give us certain documentation regarding the issue.

It should be clear that Pilane’s issue was not the only one,” Bothole said.

Pilane will have to wait a little bit longer for the NEC to hear his case. NEC is scheduled to meet again next month and deliberate on the matter.

Early this month, Gaborone North branch secretary, Lesedi Ramothagodi wrote to Pilane informing him that the committee had rejected his application.

“This communiqué serves to inform you that Gaborone North branch committee met on September 2, 2015 to look at your request to resume your membership.  A decision was reached by the committee to reject your application. The reasons for the rejection are contained in the minutes of the meeting, which can be forwarded to you on request,” the letter stated.

The branch even returned the P1,000 that Pilane paid for the reinstatement of his membership.

It also advised him to exercise his democratic right by appealing the decision to the relevant structure.

Mmegi has learnt that the issue had divided the BMD leadership, as there are those who believe that Pilane would bring instability to the party.
