Swazi health minister to launch Boitekanelo project

The launch, to be held under the theme ‘Translating knowledge into practice’, will have Acting Minister of Health Dr Alfred Madigela officiating.
“We have been receiving mixed feedback on our graduates with some people saying that our students are not well trained in their various disciplines. With the introduction of BEMS we aim to bridge this gap between the job market and the classroom, so that by the time our students graduate they are in a position to fit into their respective work environment,” Managing Director of Boitekanelo Group of Companies, Tiroyaone Mampane said at a media brief yesterday.
BEMS offers services such as ground and helicopter evacuations, call-a-doctor service, mobile clinic services, rescue services, inter-hospital transfers, medical advice via a 24-hour toll free line (996) as well as mobile health net.
Time is of paramount significance when it comes to emergency assistance and BEMS intends to address this through a preliminary investment in a highly skilled human resource, ground and air fleet at a collective cost exceeding P5 million.
The establishment intends to be a people’s choice entity in pre-hospital service provision, which is not only economical, but also provides the highest quality service with the most innovative solutions to the healthcare sector.
“The country is currently grappling with unemployment and we are quite optimistic that with support from the relevant stakeholders we can be able to contribute meaningfully,” Mampane added.
BEMS is currently has a staff complement of 42 and once in full operation it is envisaged to have more than 200 workers.
