Police XI�s first defeat paves way for Rollers

The Cops were unbeaten in six matches, but surrendered their perfect start to the season when Mpho Kgaswane drilled home in the 52nd minute. Police XI slid to second behind new leaders, Rollers, who laboured to a 1-0 victory over a stubborn Gilport Lions. Rollers have 17 points, one ahead of Police XI.

Defender, Kaone Van der Westhuizen’s get-out-of-jail 52nd minute goal was enough to push Popa to the summit. Rollers are now the only unbeaten side in the league.

GU’s win over Police XI revitalised a mixed campaign which has seen the Reds record two defeats. They have, however, bounced back with two wins on the trot.

The biggest match of the weekend was in Francistown where reigning champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs handed Extension Gunners their second defeat of the season. Magosi prevailed 1-0 thanks to a Lemponye Tshireletso goal in a match watched by 12,178 fans at the Francistown Sports Complex.

Chiefs moved closer to the leading duo with 14 points while former leaders, Gunners slumped to sixth.

BDF XI failed to capitalise and stayed fourth after a 0-0 home draw against Sankoyo Bush Bucks in a game in which coach, Benston Chambeshi lamented the visitors’ reluctance to open up the game.

Orapa United preserved their 13 month unbeaten home run after seeing off a determined Miscellaneous 1-0 on Friday night. The Orapa side is fifth on 14 points while Miscellaneous are seventh on 11 points. Green Lovers handed Satmos their first maximum points of the season after the Selebi-Phikwe side romped to a 3-0 win.

Nico United moved to 10th after piling further misery on bottom side, Motlakase Power Dynamos, through a Spencer Ngalande goal in the 82nd minute. Majombolo were wasteful up to that point with the hosts looking indecisive in the last third.

Motlakase have one point while other relegation candidates, Gilport Lions, Satmos and Sankoyo Bush Bucks all have four.
