A traditional doctor who claims to have helped a young man find a lucrative job and win back his lost girlfriend is pleading with the court to help him force him pay P10,000 for services rendered.
The medicine man is also demanding a car he says his client promised him after helping him acquire employment at Majwe Mining Company.
The 31-year-old traditional doctor Gofentswemang Simanyana claims that he performed rituals on Boemo Wamakala to find a job.
“I consulted him and told him his history before I performed rituals and the following day he was called for an interview at the mine,” he told the court.
Simanyana said the 24-year-old Wamakala, was so grateful for the results and called again, where he wanted the medicine man to perform rituals to reconcile him with his estranged girlfriend. He said after five days he received confirmation that Wamakala’s girlfriend has returned home. Simanyana told court that he was promised P10,000 and a car as payment. That was in November last year but up to today, he has not received anything.
Wamakala however, dismissed the traditional doctor’s version, saying he did not use Simanyana’s certificates or remedy to apply for employment but he was hired based on his capability and qualification. He said he applied for the job long before he consulted the doctor and he was called for interview and medicals and eventually started work, last year December. He also refuted allegations that he was once not in good terms with his girlfriend and asked for help from the said doctor. “The only deal that we had was that I will sell my car to him at a low price, based on the cordial relationship we have,” he charged.
He admitted though that, he went to consult the doctor but not with work related issues or love life but for his general wellbeing. He added that the doctor did not mention any payment for consultation but he was willing to pay P1,000 for the rituals which he claimed did not even work for him.
They were previously sent to go and negotiate outside court and see if they can solve the matter amicably, but they failed to reach a common agreement. Simanyana revealed that Wamakala wants him to top up with P5,000 in order to receive the car but he refused, saying he is not buying a car. He said he was receiving it as payment for the rituals he performed.
Magistrate Odirile Mokgatle reserved the ruling for October 14.
