The match was evenly contested in the first half, with both teams having fair chances upfront.

Midway through the first half, Rollers took control of the match and created more chances, but failed to convert them into goals. Segolame Boy had a chance to give Rollers the lead but was denied by Gilport Lions goalkeeper, Moatlhodi Ndana.

Ndana also denied Joel Mogorosi on a one-on-one situation and ensured that the two sides go to the half time break tied at 0-0.  Gilport returned from the recess in an improved form, but it was Rollers who took the lead in the 51st minute through Kaone van der Westhuizen.

Lions pushed numbers forward in search of an equaliser with Mlungisi Ndlovu threatening on several occasions.

But Rollers managed to protect their lead and moved to the summit of the log standings following Police XI’s loss to Gaborone United (GU).  Despite collecting three points, Rollers’ coach Mark Harrisson said he was not satisfied with the state of the pitch and was expecting another scrappy encounter against FC Satmos.
