Through the funds, which he raised during the Juggle – A- Thorn sessions for his trip to Barcelona FC training camp, the Form 3 learner took half of the funds to procure the resources for the school he attends.

Lottering managed to raise P26, 000 during the Juggle – A- Thorn sessions.

After the hand over, the young footballer, who recently returned from Barcelona, said he had decided to purchase the resources for his school in order to help develop the learning environment for him and his colleagues.

“The aim was to raise funds, give back to the school and the education system. During exam times, the school faces a problem of printing question papers therefore I opted to include a printer on the donation and also chairs which are the most important,” he said.

Lottering, who currently plays for the Gaborone Football Academy, said he is proud of what he has done.

“This is one of the greatest contributions that I have ever done in my life,” he said.

He went on to advise his peers to focus on their education and harness their love for sport, in order to achieve more in life and lead a healthy lifestyle. He said during his stay in Barcelona, he learnt a number of football lessons that have contributed to the development of his skills.

Prior to the hand over ceremony, Lottering was given an award by his school for being one of the best sportspersons in school.

His manager, Kirk Lottering said through the donation to the school, the footballer is leading by example as he demonstrated to his peers that it was possible to pursue sport and studies simultaneously.

He said that after raising the funds they went to look for resources for the school.

“The printer and chairs cost P 22,000, but we managed to negotiate for a reasonable amount,” said the manager.

Township Rollers and Gaborone United have previously shown interest in signing the young player.

“Different clubs have shown interest in signing him, but Ocean is still young. We want the best for him,” revealed his manager.

He added that as time goes on, he would be taken for trials to local premier soccer league teams and hopefully go and play abroad.

Through GFA, young Lottering has managed to play against South African teams such as Mamelodi Sundowns and Super Sport United junior teams.
