Expectations unrealistic � Butler

Butler, responding to Mmegi Sport inquiries, said there would always be pressure in his job but expectations were unrealistic.
“Pressure is always there, I am used to it. However, people’s expectations here are unrealistic considering what I have to deal with,” Butler said. The Englishman had come under severe scrutiny before his charges responded in the best possible way with a 1-0 victory over highly rated Burkina Faso in Francistown.
“I am not too concerned about criticism from quarters where people are manufacturing gossip, rumours and innuendo just to create hysteria to sell papers.
“I know what I am doing is good and right for the country and the country’s youth. I do not listen to people who criticise and know nothing about football or football development,” he said.
Butler was speaking after a trip to Kasane. While in Kasane, he visited schools and prison where he donated football equipment.
The coach has travelled the length and breadth of the country in search of fresh talent and there were flashes of positives during the Burkina Faso game. He denied that his project of improving depth at national team and blooding more youngsters was off the rails at some point.
“The project was always in the rails. It was never off.
Results will always be up and down when you are building a team, it is a roller coaster ride sometimes,” he said.
With the Burkina Faso win, the Zebras roared back into contention for a place at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
They trail Uganda by three points and are level with Burkina Faso on three points. They meet bottom side, Comoros next March.
